Got your attention now?
In trying to get drivers to slow down around schools, the SF Police Department will be around the city patrolling for speeders. The speed around schools is 25mph. Any faster and you may get a ticket.
Also, not paying attention to the pedestrians in crosswalks could get you a $200 ticket! That's right. Normally, drivers not yielding to pedestrians are also speeding. In one day, the SFPD handed out 173 of these tickets. The police will be targeting areas around schools, during times when children are going to school and coming home.
Don't think the City's getting this money. It goes to the state. SFPD is also shocked by the number of people getting hit...and mostly it's speeding.
So, go ahead and drive....but slow down. And, don't park in the Passenger
Zone; it's for drop off and pick up ONLY.
