Buckles Girl

"The end of Roman Britain and the decades leading up to it, are still a period which raises many unanswered questions, among them: What is happening on the military front? What is the nature of contact between Britain and the rest of the Roman empire in this period? How and when does Roman Britain begin to fragment? Hawkes and Dunning, back in 1961, identified a group of late Roman buckles, belonging to this period, (the late decades of the 4th century and the first decades of the 5th) which may hold part of the answer to these questions."

"Helena has a nasty spat with her mother and, like many a teenage girl, wishes her dead. Waves of guilt consume her when her mother is rushed to the hospital that very night. Nodding off to sleep, Helena awakes in a strange, surreal, fantastic land where she finds herself – like Alice, Dorothy and the Narnia kids before her – in a fierce battle between good and evil."

""My friends and I are always known for our butts. That's my best feature," said Brown, founder of Booty Boutique, a handmade line of belt buckles.

This musician-turned-belt-buckle-designer is on a mission to ensure that even the swath of leather holding up your pants makes a statement.

Booty Boutique was born less than two years ago when Brown was suffering a bout of writer's block. To ameliorate the block she took up jewelry making. Then, during a trip to the bead store to replenish supplies, she chanced upon a plain metal belt buckle and decided to throw it in her basket—a moment that would later prove profitable."
