Group Description

Welcome to the BROOKSIDE bicycling community's site, providing ride information and a forum for bicycle-related issues. The beautiful Brookside neighborhood is located in Kansas City, MO. Announcements for upcoming rides are sent out as special notices or as reminders from the calendar link. Other messages are sent as regular emails or daily digests. These are the regular weekly rides:

SUNDAY MORNING: the Bloomsday Ride leaves from the north parking lot just east of the Trolley Trail [GPS address: 14 W 62 Terrace]. It is a moderate pace ride [10-12 mph] of about 16 miles. Start time is usually 8:00 am; the actual start time varies seasonally and is always posted a few days in advance through this site. On alternate Sundays we go either northwards to downtown KCMO or southwest to the Whole Foods store on West 91st St in Overland Park. There is usually an option for a longer ride at the halfway point.

THURSDAY EVENING, there are two options: 1st, the faster-pace Hooper's Ride starts behind Charlie Hooper's Restaurant [GPS address: 12 W 63rd St] at 6:28 pm. There are two scheduled regroups: at Prairie Elementary School [at 67th and Mission], and at 83rd and Woodson. Average speed 16-18 mph for 20 miles. 2nd, the leisurely Roasterie Ride [moderate pace] leaves at 6:30 pm from behind the Roasterie Coffeehouse [GPS address: 6229 Brookside Blvd]. We regroup at Prairie Elementary School and at 79th and Tomahawk, where riders can choose to take a 14 mile or 16-17 mile route.

We ride all year, weather permitting. On evening rides, headlights and taillights are REQUIRED from September to the end of March.
