Many at the potluck last evening had the opportuntiy to sample some tasty
organic pawpaw liqueur. It was produced in Chicago by the Koval
Distillery. (The name Koval means "blacksmith," in numerous Eastern
European languages, but the word in Yiddish also refers to a "black sheep"
or someone who forges ahead or does something new or out of the ordinary.)
One of the founders of the distillery
was the Deputy Press Secretary for the Austrian Embassy in Washington, DC.

The pawpaw liqueur is not currently listed on the Koval website, though it
      is listed by some retailers.

Review of the Pawpaw Liqueur by the Drunk Monkeys:

I noticed the following on the Koval website. (I hope Vicki got a picture
of the bottle before the bottle disappeared.)

Organic Spirits, a book of poetry by Charlotte Hart

The artist and poet that illustrated Koval's beautiful labels has a book
entitled Organic Spirits. Charlotte Hart's poems feature the organic
fruits and herbs that Koval has (or may in the future!) distill. Ralph
Hamilton, editor of RHINO, described the manuscript as "full of life and
smell and taste....my favorites are Apple Elderflower, Black Currant,
Coffee, Indiana Paw Paw, Persimmon, Thyme, Young Walnut....it's a balm, a
tonic, a spa for the spirits." The book is available for purchase at
      www.charlotte-hart.com.
