Silver Chord Bowl Northampton, MA
- THE SILVER CHORD BOWL is Sunday, February 7, 2010 2 p.m. at John M. Greene Hall, Smith College. The first of the Four Sundays in February is always the Very Best of Collegiate A Cappella and this year, will feature the Dartmouth Aires, NYU N'Harmonics, UMass Vocal Suspects, Syracuse Mandarins, and Smith Groove. The Tufts Beelzebubs return to the Silver Chord Bowl after their tremendous performance on NBC's "The Sing Off" and a tour to Southeast Asia. For something new this year, we have Special Guests: Sonos, the Los Angeles-based a cappella sextet that combines a rich, classically choral sensibility with an ultramodern repertoire and sonic toolkit. The result is a spellbinding fusion of ancient and contemporary sounds, as songs by the likes of Radiohead, Fleet Foxes, Bon Iver , and other cutting-edge creators are transformed into mesmerizing vehicles for voices only. Our very own Northamptones, Northampton High School's advanced choral group, will open the show. Smith College President Carol T. Christ and Northampton Mayor Mary Clare Higgins will emcee the event once again. Sponsored by Whalen Insurance Agency and Hotel Northampton, this event promises to be a sell out, so get Premium Seating $25 in advance only from the Northampton Arts Council at 413 587-1069.
