      Dear Mary,

We have been working hard on lining up an exciting array of workshops, classes, and teachers for you. We sought a balance of various media and classes you've clammored for taught by craft "Rock Stars", well known experts, local talents, and our own staff.

Following 2 spectacular workshops by Lynne Perrella (read "Rock Star") whom we brought from New York, we are thrilled to welcome Colorado designer and painter Jill K. Berry (read a near "Rock Star") who will teach 2 multiday workshops in September.

Jill's work can be seen in Letter Arts Review, Somerset Studio, and many other books and publications Her handmade books are in the permanent collections of the Newberry Library in Chicago and the Denver Public Library. Her paintings and artists' books can be found in public and private collections across the country.

We're SO excited!!! and hope you, and perhaps some pals longing to connect with your artistic souls, will join us for this and other amazing adventures we are planning.
We invite you to come and play in our yard.

      PAINTED PAGES

      September 24 & 25, 2008

      $275

Jill discovered paste paper in 1997 and has been addicted ever since! The technique she developed is non-traditional and incorporates layers (sometimes many) of paste, paint, pastels, watercolors, crayons and inks. In this class, we use symbols, stencils, transfers, lettering and journaling to create luminous pages. These pages can be used for artist's books, collage and scrapbooking, or any other paper craft.

The color portion of this workshop includes exercises in developing palettes, neutrals, contrasts and depth, and how to fix a page you were about to give up on. We will discuss resources, paper choice, paints and their qualities and other technical aspects of this art.

      TEN BOOKS IN THREE DAYS
      September 26, 27 & 28, 2008
      $425

In this high-paced workshop we will create ten non-adhesive books in a weekend. Some are structures by designers famous in the field, and others I have learned and modified. We will make flip-books, pocket books, origami books, tunnel books, maze books, small journals and even a wearable book. This is a good introduction to lots of book forms, and includes some uncommon structures.

Register for both workshops by July 16 for $625!

"Books are containers for photos, ideas, scraps of previous writing and art, poetry, and memories of a journey or loved one. They are treasurers and can be one of the most gratifying forms of art. Plus, they are lots of fun to make, especially when you don't have to worry about glue! These are some of my favorites, and I'll bet they will be some of yours, too."
