New class at Backspace
- Don't miss the opportunity to learn two wonderful book structures
from Rory Golden
Two Hanging Books
Sunday, January 21
10a to 4p
$100 includes all materials and prep.
This class is good for advanced students who want to loosen up and
try new things, and for those who have less experience to gain
confidence - a win/win workshop! These structures are very simple to
learn and easy to put together. One structure is shown as a
composite image hung flat on the wall, which then collapses into a
pile of pages, fitting neatly into a handmade box. The second hanging
book is more sculptural looking and also collapses neatly into a pile
of pages. If time allows we will build boxes to house the books.
Students can finish the day with two finished, projects.
Rory Golden teaches workshops not only at the Center for Book Arts in
New York, which he directed from 2000 – 2004, but around the country
at such venues as the San Francisco Center for the Book and the Long
Beach Museum of Art. Recent solo exhibitions in NYC include the NYPL
Donnell Library and The National Museum of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual &
Transgender History. His multi-media project, “See Related Story -
The Murder of J.R. Warren” debuts at Fairmont State University,
Fairmont, WV in 2007.
