New Classes, Supplies, and Exhibits at Backspace Bookarts in Venice
Due to an unusually busy summer we failed to make much news
available to you. Vanessa Marino is the new Backspace Book Arts
letter press tech and all around studio assistant. Vanessa has
recently returned to Los Angeles from Boston after completing her BFA
at The Art Institute. She is available at Backspace during the week
while Marcia is teaching Wednesday through Friday. In is advisable
to call ahead just in case.
We recently recieved a shipment of unwaxed 100% linen thread on 20m
spools in 2 sizes and 22 incredibly beautiful colors. They are $3 each.
Hand made papers by Andrea Peterson, a paper artist who teaches at
Columbia College Book and Paper Program, has supplied Backspace with
a limited, but remarkable, collection of hand made marbled papers.

Backspace Book Arts
In October Dayle Doroshow will be teaching two classes.
Saturday, October 21 10-4 $ 130 All materials included
Create a deck of fimo cards designed to teach a myriad of techniques
using polymer clay. The cards, besides being a lot of fun to make can
serve as prompts and inspiration for future work.
This is a great class for both beginners and veteran polymer clay
The Triptych Journal
Sunday, October 22 10-4 $130 All materials included
Make a three part sewn book that can stand or fold up. Using a
variety of techniques designed to expand your work with polymer clay,
students will spend the day working with personal imagery and
innovative clay techniques to produce a beautiful work of art.
