Authors Robin Price and Jae Jennifer Rossman elaborate on the thought process behind the 2002 exhibit of the same name that they curated at the Arts of the Book Collection, Arts Library, Yale University. The categories in which the included works were grouped are discussed, with examples to illustrate each: Blind Collaboration, Calculated Chance Operations, Chance Developments from Purposeful Spontaneity, Documentation of a Chance Moment, Found Materials as Instigators for Creation, and Randomness Determined by Reader Interaction. A checklist of the exhibition is also included.
