  • Thank you for posting this. My light air sail will have one reef and being a loose footed standing lug sail I was not sure how I was going to tie in the reef. Now I won't have to reinvent something already solved. Eric

  • Mason's critique is why I went to Doug first, and he lives just down the street from me. However, he does not build sails as large as I need. Patrick and Leigh, thank you for your suggestions. I will check both shops out. Eric

  • Materials alone must come to a lot more than the $25000 asking price. Clearly the only reason to build a boat is to enjoy the process of building a boat. Tempting. Ahhh, but I already have a boat that I don't use enough and can't sell for what I have invested in it. Eric

  • Can anyone recommend a sailmaker skilled at sewing lug sails properly? I need three sails sewn for me. A balanced lug of approx 110 sq ft. Balanced lug of approx 250 sq ft and a standing lug of approx 250 sq ft. I expect 90* tacks which is what ROGUE will do with the cobbled sails I am currently using. And I expect them to pull like genoas. In other words I expect better results...

  • Details: Built 1993 by Paul Smith (letter from Phil Bolger). Sailed by Paul for many years in San Juan Islands. At some point got to Albany, NY area and was used as a camp cruiser until that owner was killed while riding a bicycle. Spent a couple of years in outside storage exposed to the elements while the estate was settled. The deterioration resulting includes: kick up rudder...

  • A couple of people are interested. I'll see what I can do. Has been hard to connect with the person just to ask his plans for the boat, and even then I just got to talk to his house mate. • A Martha Jane in pretty rough but restorable shape on an excellent four wheel trailer is available in Ithaca, NY. No price but the owner is interested in selling the boat. If there is any serious interest I will look into the matter further. The mast and rub rails would have to be replaced. I have not thoroughly examined the boat, but the hull appears to be in good shape and is...

  • 26' Bolger barge hull. approx. 2500 building hours. Approx $25000 in materials at today's cost ($18,000 actual over 30 years). It needs $3000 in new sails, but the used mainsail could, and is likely to service for many more years. (Replace sails every three years?!? I don't think so!) It sits on a trailer in my back yard during hard water ($5 to launch. $5 to retrieve). Last time...
