      Chris,
You are quite right, Puddle Duck Racer is derived from Brick.  My PDR, hull #134, is also my first build, first boat, first almost everything.  It was a great choice, sails and rows just fine, and cost about $350, but only because I spent a bit over $100 on a Polysail International Shellback Lugsail, instead of their bargin PDR sail, and bought good hardware from Duckworks, instead of hardware store cheapies!
are some of the websites to start with.  Besides all the free plans available from pdracer.com and Ploysail, Duckworks sells Mick Storer's OZ Mk.II PDR plans, which kind of get away from the ultra cheap, ultra simple genisis of the PDR class, but they are nice, if more advaced.
