Many months ago we asked if Paul Everett built, launched and pedaled Bolger s Design #669. Paul recently answered our questions with text and photos. See them

Well those are neat pics. The boat looks to be very nicely crafted. My respect to the builder. She is definitely making way with the stern wheel flailing

IMO efficient drive systems are inherently silent, and don't splash, but it is still fun to see Bolger's concept tried.

Grant, it is obviously allright for folks to discuss their or other s boats, designs, real experiences, necessary alterations, things that really did not work.

            Grant,
it is obviously allright for folks to discuss their or other's boats, designs, real experiences, necessary alterations, things that really did not work.  But to take our exact text, word-by-word just goes farther than you'd want to go.  And Bob Hicks theoretically may (or may not) care.  It is just better 'form' to clear these things.

On the other hand limited quotations 'as fair use' etc. is all routine, o.k..  And your report of seeing her, your own photos or Paul's personal shots of his boat would be a great addition to the knowledge-base.
I do appreciate your willingness and indeed generosity "to help the cause".  And I also have been impatient for many years about the absurdly limited access to post-BWOM material and of course the designs that never entered any books.  And even MAIB is not a complete reflection of design-work done pre-Susanne or since Phil progressively pulled me into the process of conceptualizing, designing, and writing about the work for folks like you and all.

I face a dense agenda post-Sept.19. to get on with the task of making the work comprehensively accessible.  Respective manuscripts exist, plans had been made over the years but we were overwhelmed by Fisheries-stuff, certain local distractions, US Navy work - while Phil was beginning to experience first ominous signs of what we dreaded the most.

I so wished for so many things to have gone differently over the recent months and years for him to have found energy and hope to push a bit further.  I would have argued with him one more time to not plan on leaving.  But he likely knew the best 'when it was time' - give or take.  I do sincerely hope for energy and luck to at last get this work on the road in earnest.  So that folks like you get to enjoy "the cause" even more.
