      The higher the waves, the faster they(Hawaiians) paddle shorewards, to the relative saftey of land, where they can then over-indulge on Rum, palm wine and "Long-Pig" until the volcano errupts and drives them seawards in their canoes, until the waves get too big,(In some rare cases the canoes only travel 10' or so before turning around and heading back home) where-apon they turn round and paddle back to shore as fast as they can and repeat this process until they're totally out of their minds and no longer care or even fear what height a wave is!!!!!!

      This is a well known and established fact. Captain James Cook recorded it in his ship's log, just before the Hawaiian Cannibals captured and ate him!!!!!
