WORLD PRIDE AND POWER CONFERENCE MAKES HISTORY IN
LOS ANGELES FOR SGLBT PEOPLE OF AFRICAN DESCENT, SGLBT PEOPLE OF COLOR AND THEIR ALLIES

The inaugural World Pride & Power Conference hosted by the World Pride & Power Organization held in the theme of "Unity, Empowerment & Inclusivity,"  convening Thursday, February 21-February 24, 2008 in Los Angeles, California at the Olympic Collection Conference Center (http://www.ocbanquet.com/)  is excited to announce the following updates about this historical event which has attracted participants from across America and as far as Ethiopia, Jamaica and Nigeria.

Before we share our exciting news, the World Pride & Power Organization must first thank its generous sponsors including the distinguished Gill Foundation, Kaiser Permanente, In the Meantime Men, Women Alive Coalition, AmASSI Health & Cultural Centers and the GLAAD Organization.  You are World Pride!

Now, for the breaking news--the World Pride & Power Conference is deeply honored to announce that Pulitzer Prize nominee, Paula Gunn Allen, will address our conference audience as part of a historic panel on the presence and history of two-spirit, twin-spirit and same gender loving people throughout the history and existence of humankind!

Funded by a generous donation from the Brandon Fradd Foundation, the World Pride & Power Conference, in collaboration with the Paths to Change Organization, will present the groundbreaking, "Empowering Nations," panel led by Lawrence Ellis, Director-Paths to Change, with award-winning authors Paula Gunn Allen, Dr. Malidoma Some', Carol Cano, Ifalade Ta'Shia Asanti and Apela Colorado, all of whom are distinguished writers, researchers, spiritual and cultural preservationists of indigenous culture and history (see full description of sessions below).

"This particular World Pride Conference panel is among the most historically and culturally important for our community.  The myth that there were not people of the same gender and various other gender expressions, loving and caring for one another, as part of the African and indigenous human and historical experience is soon to be eradicated." Says Ifalade Ta'Shia Asanti, Conference Chair and Co-Visionary.
