This morning there was a nice assortment of shorebirds at the Granger Pond. Besides Killdeer, Spotted Sandpiper, Wilson’s Snipe and Black-necked Stilt there were four Long-billed Dowitcher, a brief (about 2 minutes) visit from a Wilson’s Phalarope and an unidentified peep (likely Western). The peep lit for about 30 seconds before taking off to the north. It certainly didn’t have the warm coloration that adult Least Sandpipers have right now, but look was too quick to confirm Western. Further down the road near the intersection with Outlook Rd there were three Least Sandpipers in a small muddle next to the road. Otherwise pretty quite, we did have a female Blue-winged Teal in a marshy area at the corner of Emerald Road and Wells Rd just south of Exit 67 in Sunnyside.
