FW: Closing of Camp Freedom
- Dear TAC Scouters,
Thought you might be interested in this email about the closing of Camp Freedom, which Shel Dick was gracious to send me.
Another chapter of TAC which is now relegated to memory.

> Past weekend I attended what is most likely the last formal event at camp
> freedom, which is closing because the DPW at USAG Giessen and USAG Hanau are
> closing and the camp is no longer supportable.
> The final activity was touted as an OA all call to help gather up material
> which can be transported to a potential replacement location near Ansbach -
> but which may not be ready by next year.
> Order of the Arrow All Call
> Fellow Arrowman, As the 52nd and Final Camping season comes to an end at
> camp freedom we are having an OA 'All call' and Leader 'All Call' to come
> and help put camp away for the winter season.
> The 52nd Camping Year has been marked with great times and over 700 campers.
> The camp will officially close at 11 AM on Saturday, 4 August 2007. You can
> arrive earlier than 1100. We would like to get as many Arrowman and unit
> leaders up to freedom to help take down Camp on Saturday afternoon and
> Sunday AM. Our goal is to clear Freedom Sunday night.
> Food will be provided; you only have to provide a tent and work clothes.
> Unlike a normal fellowship, there will be no tents (as we break them down)
> and the Camp Staff is still occupying the buildings.
> We would like to have clean numbers by Thursday for planning purposes.
> Additionally, we will issue a patch after the event to those that attend.
> Only one per person will be awarded and will be sent out after the event.
> These will be very coveted.
> I hope to see you all around the council fire. Thank You for all you are
> doing for Scouting.
> Location: Camp Freedom
> Art McQueen participated - not only to help the clean-up, but just as as
> important, he graciously spent the time to photograph and help memorialize
> the camp for those of us who have spent great times there. Keep ck-ing the
> tac web site for those pics.
