Cargo Way planning process -- Bike Tour!
      From: "Kelley Kahn" <Kelley.Kahn@...>
      Date: Fri, 30 Nov 2007

Just a reminder that there will be a bike tour of Cargo Way and its
vicinity this Saturday at 10:30am. Meet at Cesar Chavez and
      Illinois.

The tour will go down Cargo, with a stop at Waste Solutions, and then
continue to the entrance to Heron's Head park. Time permitting, the
tour might go down the Bay Trail a bit towards India Basin Shoreline
Park, and then will return along Cargo, ending at the Illinois Street
Bridge. For those interested, lunch at the Ramp will follow.

For more information, please contact Tom at Livable City:
      tom@... or 415-344-0489.

      Thanks!

        This from the livablecity.org website...

Livable City works to create a San Francisco of great streets and
complete neighborhoods, where walking, bicycling, and transit are the
best choices for most trips, where public spaces are beautiful, well-
designed, and well-maintained, and where housing is more plentiful
        and more affordable.

        Cargo Way Bicycle Tour
        Saturday, December 1, 10:30 am- 12:30 pm
Meet at the corner of Cesar Chavez and Illinois streets.
        Free!

Cargo Way is a little-known industrial street in the city's southeast
which is currently undergoing a planning process to transform it into
a great street for walking and cycling — and a key link in the city's
Blue Greenway and the Bay Trail, a 500-mile regional pedestrian and
        bicycle trail around SF Bay.

Participants on this bicycle tour will hear about plans for Illinois
Street bicycle lanes, explore the new Illinois St. bridge across
Islais Creek and hear about ideas for a separated bicycle path on
Cargo Way and a new entrance to Heron's Head Park. Members of the
Cargo Way design team and city staff will be there, and participants
can offer their ideas for Cargo Way, the design of the trail and of
key intersections along the route. The discussion will continue
afterwards over an optional lunch at the Ramp. For more information
about the Cargo Way plan, see the Redevelopment Agency's web site.
