Group Description

Support for living donors and recipients bereaved by the transplant.
Were you involved in a living transplant as either a donor or a recipient, and suffered the loss of the other person as a consequence of the surgery?
Are you dealing with issues that, in addition to the grief at the loss of your loved one, may include
* A sense of betrayal?
* Survivor guilt?
* A sense that if it were not for the surgery, the other person would still be with you?
* Ongoing health issues?
* A sense of being alone in a world of successful transplant stories?
Then this group is for you.
I lost my husband after donating a kidney to him in 2010, and felt very alone afterwards. So I founded this group so that those of us in this rare situation can provide mutual support and understanding to each other. I also hope to increase awareness of issues surrounding living donation so that what happened to us does not happen to others.
This group fully supports the principles of organ donation, including living donation and presumed consent. It opposes payment to donors.
In memory of Keith Farwell 1965-2010.
