Group Description

David Bohm's realist, causal version of quantum mechanics (QM) offers both
a precise physical picture of the micro-world, and a rigorous
mathematical foundation for explaining the origin and magnitudes of measurement
probabilities. Probabilities emerge in Bohm's QM just as in statistical
mechanics.

Bohm's greatest champion has been John Bell, whose inequalities were
motivated by Bohm's work, to demonstrate the unavoidability of
faster-than-light influences in any fundamental theory. Despite Bell's
efforts, his results are commonly misunderstood, usually with the idea that
they rule out all "hidden variable" theories.

Professionals and amateurs are welcome to discuss these and related issues
in this unmoderated forum.
