      Dear Friends and Colleagues:

Dr. Amots Dafni (University of Haifa) will enjoy his formal retirement in the next two weeks.  He will some of his original laboratory and remain on the Haifa campus as a professor emeritus.  If you want to send him a congratulatory note use the following email <amots.dafni@...> or write him at the...

While Dr. Dafni has worked extensively on topics in weed biology, orchid taxonomy and the ethnobotany of the Middle East he is probably best know as bee-pollination biologist studying insect-flower interactions in Israel, Australia, South America and China.  He has also offered an international course on how to observe and collect data on pollination.  Some of the "equipment" he favors can be purchased at a local Radio Shack.  He plans to continue teaching this course and he coauthored a chapter in the upcoming book "Darwin's Orchids; Then and Now" (U. of Chicago Press,2013).  We expect Dr Dafni to visit St. Louis University and deliver to lectures on the Ethnobotany of the Middle East in April 2013.

      Sincerely, Peter
