Augochlora pura (?) pollinates (?) Cypripedium parviflorum
- Retha has taken additional footage of small solitary bees escaping from the flower of Cypripedium parviflorum at the Cuivre River Site (Missouri). This green metallic bee is about 6-7 mm in length and is probably a female of Augochlora pura (Halictidae). The actual escape in this video is so quick you can't quite see the pollen smear on the back of the bee as you did in the previous video.
Peter:Here is another video that I captured May 7th. This native bee is probably Augochlora pura. It really has to struggle to get through the exit hole!
