beam bot balance question
- I have been lurking on this group for quite some time now, and I want to ask if there are any beam robots which can do balancing task like say, balancing a glass of water, or even just balance itself on two motors like segway?I have built and fiddled with just a photopopper till now .. so please understand my ignorance.
- Yup, I've seen some simple devices using bicore modules, where the
reflected light from a QRD1114 sensor suspended off the surface a few
inches ahead of the robot was used to control the motors.
When the robot tips forward, the sensor gets closer to the floor, and
feeds back a signal to reverse the motors. Tipping backward, and the
sensor signal falls lower and the bicore oscillates biasing the other
way, to advance the motors.
Trying to find an online reference, but no luck so far. Hrm. A bit more
refined than this:
Similar idea, but the light sensor is actually shining on the surface
of the floor.
Hope that helps,
- Tom Jenner built simple OISM based balancing robots, one which balanced underneath a light source, and tracked it, and another , I believe, that balanced itself with a potentiometer. I think it would be more useful to have a device that can balance itself from an internal state than as a result of external stimuli.
