Sunday afternoon, Nov 8th on the campus of the Univ of MD the Alexandria Harmonizers (four time gold medalists) were in performance with Pride of Baltimore (twice SAI silver medalists chorus) and guests MAXX Factor (current 2009 Harmony Sweepstakes Champion and just off their 3rd place medalist performance at SAI International in Nashville).

As an inactive member of the Harmonizers I had the opportunity to be in the audience for this fabulous barbershop show.  Both choruses were in superb form lead by Master Director, Joe Cerutti.  Alexandria's first half of the show was MCed by the unstoppable, Rick Taylor.  In the show finale the choruses combined for three numbers that wowed the packed house.

Even with all that said, MAXX Factor was the shining star of the show as they demonstrated how they came to have that medal, showing us how to really make the chords ring and the tags scream!!!

Of course an afterglow followed with an array of seven quartets from the two chapters capped by more from MAXX Factor.  Their lead, Leslie, really knows how to get to the heart of the song and to your heart and then cap it off with a screaming tag.  Yeowee!

It was an afternoon/evening of barbershop singing that will not be soon forgotten in these parts.  I counted no less than four standing ovations.

The show was broadcast via the web and can still be purchased for online viewing for the rest of this week.
