The master.txt file available for download from www.baseball-databank.org
contains a column called RetroID. There are about 70 sets of duplicate (or
more) RetroIDs to be found in this column.

      For example,
      SELECT nameFirst, nameLast, PlayerID, RetroID
      FROM Master
      WHERE RetroID like "petta%"
      returns
      Andy Pettitte pettian01 petta001
      Adam Pettyjohn pettyad01 petta001

The correct ID for Adam Pettyjohn in Retrosheet files is "petta002". The
RetroIDs included in the file IDReference.zip which D_Adair uploaded to the
yahoo egroup on 6/17/2002 appear to be correct, at least for Pettyjohn and
      the few others I eyeballed.
