Group Description

Arizona Near Space Research (ANSR), a 501(c)(3) organization that promotes science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through Amateur Radio and High-Altitude Balloons (ARHAB). ANSR has supported NASA Space Grant programs since 2001. ANSR has conducted over 75 high-altitude balloon flights reaching up to 117,127 feet, many carrying student payload projects. Many more exciting flights which YOU can participate in are currently being planned.

A successful ARHAB group uses a variety of skills. These include:
-- APRS (packet), DF, DX, GPS, TV receivers, transmitters and multiple antenna types;
-- electronic and mechanical design and fabrication;
-- digital design and programming;
-- weather and flight path prediction; and;
-- many other STEM related activities.
If you're ready to roll up your sleeves and have some real fun while honing these skills, please join us! Hands-on participation by interested radio amateurs, non-amateurs and STEM oriented educational/student group participation is especially welcome.

Our regular monthly business meetings are teleconferenced on the third Monday at 7:30 PM MST (0230 UTC). Technical meetings are held on the first Monday each month also at 7:30 P.M. MST. For call-list inclusion, ANSR members should contact Jack (Pres.), at jscra@cableone.net or Elijah (V.P.) at elijah@ad7zj.net.

Check out our website at www.ansr.org for membership information, upcoming flight information and our flight archives.
