      The BBC World Service Trust is an independent charity that uses media
      communications for development. The BBC World Service Trust is working on a
      two year innovative media project in Bosnia Herzegovina, 'Our Town, Our
      Future', which includes radio production and outreach work.

      The BBC World Service Trust is seeking to recruit local staff for the
      following posts based in Sarajevo:

      Job Title: Fundraising and Development Assistant
      (part-time)

      Reports To: Project Manager

      Line management responsibility: None


      OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB


      To provide efficient, comprehensive administrative and research support in
      Fundraising and Development activities to the Project Manager BBC World
      Service Trust Sarajevo.

      To provide efficient, administrative and office management support to the
      Project Manager, BBC World Service Trust Sarajevo.

      MAIN DUTIES

      . To work closely with and assist the Project Manager in all functions
      related to fundraising and development.
      . To deal with routine correspondence on own initiative and prepare draft
      correspondence.
      . To provide administrative support to the Project Manager.
      . To provide substantial research support on all development related
      activity including possible new funding relationships for the Trust.
      . To support and co-ordinate the development of materials, presentations and
      proposals for use in Trust development and fundraising activity.
      . To distribute project materials internally and to external organisations.
      . To develop and oversee systems to facilitate regular contact with donors
      and partners.
      . To prepare reports and presentations, which involve collating information,
      researching background information and other documentation

      Funding development

      . develop and maintain an overview of relevant grant funding streams
      . develop and maintain knowledge of the policies and programmes of funding
      bodies (government and voluntary sector), keeping abreast of any changes and
      seeking new opportunities where appropriate
      . advise Project Manager on opportunities for funding from grant giving
      bodies


      KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE


      . Excellent organisational and administrative skills with the ability to
      manage a full workload paying close attention to detail and effectively
      balancing competing priorities.

      . Higher level education with at least two years relevant and recent
      experience in information research and fundraising
      . Fluency in written and spoken Bosnian and English and the ability to
      communicate effectively.
      . A broadly based general knowledge with a developed interest in Bosnian
      affairs and radio-broadcast

      . Excellent knowledge of computer packages (Email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
      Dream Weaver or similar).

      . Proven track record in fundraising and related research.

      . Strong interest in the issues of media and global development/poverty
      alleviation

      . Well developed research skills, both in identifying information and in
      summarising it effectively.

      . First class communication skills, the ability to deal confidently and
      effectively with staff at all levels as well as external contacts, both in
      person, on the telephone and in writing.

      . Experience of working as part of a team and dealing with a wide range of
      people including funders, financial managers and consultants.
