      Description:
      This internship with the Secretariat of the Regional Environmental
      Reconstruction Programme for South Eastern Europe (REReP) will provide
      an opportunity to gain practical knowledge; hands-on experience; and
      research skills relating to the environmental reconstruction of South
      Eastern Europe. It is suitable for an ambitious student in an advanced
      stage of study who wants to focus on the South Eastern European region,
      and international assistance for environmental reconstruction.

      This internship is results oriented. Under the supervision of the REReP
      Project Manager, the intern shall prepare environmental profiles of the
      SEE countries participating in the programme: Albania, Bosnia and
      Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, FYR Macedonia, Romania, and Serbia and
      Montenegro, including Kosovo (territory under UN interim
      administration). He/she will be given detailed Terms of Reference for
      the country profiles and the final product will be included in the new
      REReP publication, which is to be released in 2005.

      Qualifications Required
      Applicants should:
      * Have a degree or be in the advanced stage of study in a relevant
      discipline, such as (but not limited to, International Relations,
      European Integration, Balkan Studies, Environmental Science, Law or
      Economics;
      * Have excellent analytical, research and writing skills;
      * Be proficient in English;
      * Be willing to work with a dynamic international team; and
      * Be able to keep deadlines and handle tasks responsibly.


      Internship conditions:
      * This is a non-paid internship. The REC will provide a modest
      stipend to the intern to cover some of his/her living costs in Hungary.

      * The REC will do its best to assist the intern with accommodation
      and travel arrangements, including the acquisition of a visa for
      Hungary, if necessary. The REC is often able to offer interns
      inexpensive accommodations right on its premises.
      * The REC will provide the intern with a workstation suitable for
      the performance of their tasks as well as the necessary guidance and
      supervision to ensure a mutually beneficial learning and working
      process.
