The Central Finance and Contracts Unit on behalf of the Republic of Turkey is seeking proposals for the development of small scale, people-to-people and soft local development activities of a cross-border nature and the enhancement of the capability of local and regional authorities and other NGOs to develop and implement joint projects within the border regions Haskovo, Yambol and Burgas in Bulgaria and Edirne and Kýrklareli in Turkey with financial assistance from the National Pre-Accession Financial Assistance Programme for Turkey 2003 programme of the European Communities.
Activities eligible under the JSPF involve the enhancement of the capability of local and regional authorities and other components of the democratic society (chambers of commerce, industry and agriculture, trade associations, trade unions, NGOs, schools and universities, etc.) to develop and implement joint projects within the border region, to overcome specific development problems of the border region and to remove existing disparities within the cross-border region, and in this way, to promote economic and social cohesion.
