The third issue of Historein: A Review of the Past and Other Stories has
just been released. It is devoted to "European Ego-histoires:
Historiography and the Self, 1970-2000", and guest edited by Luisa
Passerini and Alexander C.T. Geppert. The issue thematizes the
relationship between the historian and the writing of history, illuminating
the conditions that have shaped present historiography. In "Ego-histoire"
the existential involvement of the historian is transformed into an
analytic tool capable of documenting and demonstrating some of the basic
procedures of history writing. For the issue eight prominent contemporary
European historians "became historians of their own history," and their
contributions shed light on personal experiences, life-choices and
political involvements, as they reflect on the intellectual adventures and
professional trajectories that influenced their historiographical production.

Historein is an annual historical review published in Athens by Nefeli
      Publications and distributed internationally.
