      Hello From The BAHL Office!

Lots and lots of hockey this weekend!  The Squirt House tournament will be the largest non-MAHA tournament the arena has hosted in a few seasons!  7 visiting teams from Great Falls, Gillette, Mitchell SD, Sheridan, Helena, and Williston ND will join our three house teams for the weekend.  Games start at 3:45 pm on Friday and continue throughout the weekend.

Also this weekend!  You thought the Bulls were done?  Not true – they will participate in a playoff to determine the final team for Nationals next week.  This means there is the possibility of a Bulls game Saturday or Sunday night.  The results of the Missoula/Gillette series will determine our schedule.

The survey will be available for completion through March 29th.  Please take a few minutes to complete it before then.  When you take the survey, please answer all the questions unless they do not apply to your skater.  The survey link:   https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/8SDJCYB

      More Bulls!

Didn’t get enough Bulls games this season?  We will get a chance to see the Bulls for two more games this season possibly as soon as this Saturday or Sunday.  The Bulls will be in a two game playoff series against the loser of the Missoula/Gillette series to determine the 3rd spot for Nationals which begin next week.

There are a couple of scenarios for these games:  Saturday and Sunday in Billings or Sunday and Monday in Billings or two games in Missoula.  I will send out a schedule update as soon as we know what the plan is which won’t be known until the Missoula/Gillette series is complete.

      Important Dates:

March 19-30:  Move-up time!  Players who will be in the next age division next season can skate with that age division during these final two weeks of our season.  Only skaters who are moving up next season may participate in this.  Second year Peewees:  you are welcome to join the Varsity team for practices since there is not a Bantam team.

March 27th:  All money collected from Gun Raffle ticket sales needs to be returned to the league office.  You can continue selling tickets, but any money collected so far, must be returned by March 27th.

March 28th:  All rental equipment must be returned to the arena between 5:30-7:00 pm.

April 10th:  BAHL Annual Meeting and Elections

April 16th:  BAHL Monthly Board Meeting (Moved from April 9th)

      April 28th:  BAHL Casino Night

      Hello and Good Bye:

Hello Glynis Gibson.  Glynis has been appointed to the BAHL Board of Directors to fill the vacancy created by Glen’s departure.  Glynis is a past BAHL parent.  Her youngest, Ben, played for the Bulls this season.  Glynis has served in many capacities during her active BAHL years including team manager, age group director, board member and more.  Welcome back Glynis!

We say good bye to three board members this season.  Jim Lilly is leaving us after serving three seasons as a board member.  Jim is actually a figure skating dad and was a great asset to the board spending many hours each season on committees as well as for Casino Night with his wife Karen.

Pat Picicci is leaving the board after service 6 seasons which is the maximum consecutive terms any member can serve.  Pat has acted as the committee chairperson for the coaches committee for many of those seasons as well as actively taking part in other committees and events each season.

J.J. Carmody is also leaving due to the “term limit” of 6 consecutive seasons.  J.J. has served as BAHL Treasurer for all six seasons.  She has a way with numbers and has been a driving force in developing a financial plan to take the league in a positive direction.  J.J.’s son, John Vant, was an active player this season with the Bulls.

      Annual Meeting & Elections:

Pre-register for the annual meeting by emailing me with your intent to attend and receive a bonus entry into the Grand Prize drawing!  You double your chances of winning by pre-registering.  Limit of one extra entry per registered skater.

The BAHL annual meeting and elections will take place April 10th at 6:30 pm.  Location:  Mansfield Center (Saint V’s Facility).  This season there are three available board positions to fill.  If you are interested in running for one of the open positions, please contact a member of the nominating committee, George Bentzel or Layne Martin.  You may also contact the league office for more information as well.

      Stop the Presses!

The Billings Gazette has been kept very busy with hockey these past few weeks.  They have printed every press release that has been sent their way regarding youth hockey.  Thank you Gazette!  Great to see hockey in the news.  Photos from this past Mite tournament will be printed soon and hopefully will follow with Squirt tournament photos as well.  KTVQ2 News was in the building earlier this week giving more coverage to some BAHL skaters who are headed to U12 USA Hockey Nationals next week.  An airdate for their taping is unknown.

      Athlete’s Foot Promotion:

The Athlete’s Foot on Grand & Shiloh (by Granite Health & Fitness) has generously agreed to donate $10 for every pair of shoes they sell between March 15th and April 1st to the Montana Thunderblades to help with the cost of Nationals.  If you are in the market for a new pair of shoes this would be a great way to help the team!

        Hello From The BAHL Office!

Ice looks great, the arena looks great and the number of skaters on the ice has been good this week.  One more week of our September schedule which is mainly drop-in sessions and then we move to our October practice schedule.  Don’t forget that you can view the arena schedule at any time through our website at www.centennialicearena.net, just choose the “view schedule” tab on the left side of the page.

Do you have a skater who is at least 16 years of age?  Does this skater need or want a job during the hockey season?  The arena is hiring for skate guards to help during public skate this season.  We will work around travel team schedules.  Send the office an email if you or your skater is interested.

Ostby Orthodontics will offer a free mouthguard fitting which includes a free mouthguard on Sunday, October 7th 3:00-5:00 pm.  This fitting will take place at their heights office which is across Wicks Lane by Wal-Mart.  All BAHL and Learn to Play skaters are welcome to take advantage of this offer!

        Rental Equipment:

Did you miss our equipment date yesterday for the first session of Learn to Play?  Cristina will be available on Saturday during the Learn to Play session at 12:00 to fit your skater.  Please send me an email if you are in need of equipment to get started for this first session.
