Stanford Quads class intro, Sunday 10/26, 7-9 PM, Palo Alto
- The Future of Square Dancing
Do you have a couple of hours free on Sunday
evenings to have some fun, learn, and get a
little exercise? Come on down to the Stanford
Quads. They're starting a new square dance
class; this week is free if you just want to
check it out.
This isn't square dancing like you remember it
from school; modern Western square dancing has
evolved. Here is an article about Quads-style
square dancing by the Mathematical Association
"... The ranks of today's square dancers include
an inordinate number of puzzle lovers, engineers,
computer programmers, and mathematics teachers. ...
they stay attuned to mathematical concepts such as
group theory, fractions, and permutations when they
go through their steps. ..."
Singles/couples of any gender/orientation
are welcome. Dress is casual. No coordiination is
needed, and remedial left/right lessons are
available on request. Come on out; tell them
Kennita sent you ;-) . Actually, come say hi --
I'll be there! Hope to see you!
