Hi Futurists,

Mike Langberg from Mercury News wrote a column in 1992 looking 10
years ahead. He now checks it against today's reality.[1] Think back
where have you been in 1992 and how you survived without internet
      access.

He also does a column with predictions for 2012.[2] Although I think
he is not very concrete with his predictions, far less then 10 years
ago. None of his predictions are really surprising if you have
followed our posts here, which is reassuring.

      All the best, Mark.

I enjoyed reading Langberg's previous predictions. In reading his predictions for 2012, I was surprised that he made no predictions for medical technology. Why is this?

That's just because he didn't want to discuss his
ingrown toenails, flatulence and bladder problems.

No, just kidding! Assuming this isn't a rhetorical
question, the answer is, because he never writes
about medical technology. If you look at his other
columns, they are about such things as tablet PC's,
AOL, color laser printers, location devices, cell
phones, internet filtering, IPod, Windows XP,
videophones. Medical technology just doesn't cross
his mind, at least when he's not at the doctor's
          office.

It's kind of a funny thing, but when people are highly
focused all the time on topic X, they are probably
not thinking about topic Y. This is why I think a lot
of people in high tech are caught off guard by advances
in technology, when X and Y suddenly mix. I bet in Mr.
Landberg's mind, "regular" technology that he writes
about, like laser printers and PC's, doesn't have
much connection to medical technology, which to him
          is a whole separate field.

                Hi Futurists,

Mike Langberg from Mercury News wrote a column in
1992

looking 10
years ahead. He now checks it against
                today's

reality.[1] Think back
where have you been in 1992 and how you
                survived

without internet

He also does a column with predictions for
2012.[2]

Although I think
he is not very concrete with his predictions, far
less

then 10 years
ago. None of his predictions are really surprising
if

you have
followed our posts here, which is reassuring.
