      Commentary

Last week Rutans’s EarthShipOne reached an altitude of 62 miles. It can
hold three people, a pilot and two presidential candidates.

      Movie Reviews

Around The World in 80 Days
Jackie Chan does Jules Verne. It only seems like 80 days.

      Baadasss
Mario Van Peebles plays his father making a controversial film in 1970.
It captures the period and sentiment but is exhausting to watch. I
haven’t seen an artist suffer for his art like this since Kirk Douglas
played Vincent Van Gogh in Lust for Life.

      The Corporation
Who said Canadians are always polite? The premise that corporations act
like psychopaths is hammered home with big rubber mallets. If you like
Michael Moore, you’ll like this film.

      Dodgeball
Caddyshack with red rubber balls. Where else are you going to see
William Shatner, Chuck Norris, David Hasselhoff and Lance Armstrong make
fun of everything athletic? It also features Alan Tudnyk from Firefly
who steals the movie as a pirate.

      Fahrenheit 911
Creating an attack ad that people would pay money to see sounds like
something a Republican would think up. Michael Moore goes to great
      lengths to make his point.
People were talking in the theater, arguing in the lobby and screaming
in the parking lot. Tell Diebold to start rigging those electronic
      voting machines now.

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
A memorable film about forgetting. There are bizarre interlocking plots
that will be best understood after repeated viewing. Put this in the
“films about brain damage” trilogy of Fifty First Dates and 13 Going On
      30.

      The Terminal
The second bad Tom Hanks film of the year. This guy used to entertain us
by talking to mermaids and volleyballs. What happened? Watch this if you
      are stuck in a terminal.
