Dr Andrew Newman in Palo Alto. He is a DAN pulmonologist. He is a great dr. Saw him last year when I had immersion pulmonary edema. Regina Sent from my iPhone

Peninsula Doctor Who Dives?

There is a doc somewhere on the Peninsula who dives and often consults with local divers who have questions or issues. He prescribed a sinus med for my wife

Fwd: [ba_diving] Not really sure what to think about this one...

Retransmission from correct email address. I sent the article to a friend at Divers Alert Network. The reply surprised me. What you see in the photo is rare.

Re: Not really sure what to think about this one...

There is also an answer for the weight gain: When the lymphatic system is injured we retain fluid that we would normally expel. This is known as lymphedema.

Re: Not really sure what to think about this one...

I think one of the comments below the article states the actual likely cause: "subcutaneous emphysema caused by pulmonary barotrauma" (not "the bends"). John

I sent the article to a friend at Divers Alert Network. The reply surprised me. What you see in the photo is rare. It is lymphatic DCS. Typically it occurs

Re: Not really sure what to think about this one...

That is *really* strange! What makes the least sense of the whole story is that the diver would gain 5 stones (about 70 lbs.) in weight just from nitrogen
