The Golden Gate Men's Chorus, Joseph Jennings, Director, presents Rheinberger
      Mass in B-flat, Sunday, May 6, 2001, 4 pm; Tuesday, May 8, 2001, 8 pm

The Golden Gate Men's Chorus, under the direction of Joseph Jennings,
completes its 19th season with its annual spring concerts, Rheinberger Mass
in B-flat on Sunday, May 6, 4pm at St. Joseph's Cathedral in San Jose (90 S.
Market Street), and on Tuesday, May 8, 8pm at the Mission Dolores Basilica in
San Francisco (370 Dolores Street @ 16th Street). Founded in 1982, the
Golden Gate Men's Chorus is a 44-voice ensemble, and is dedicated to giving
voice to the gay community with a repertory that draws on the rich traditions
of male choral singing: mainly classical, with occasional excursions into
      Broadway, pop, and gospel music.

Rheinberger Mass in B-flat celebrates the centennial year of the death of
German composer and organist, Joseph Gabriel Rheinberger (1839-1901) by
highlighting this sacred work for men's chorus and wind orchestra. Included
in the program will be other works by Rheinberger, as well as selections by
      Franz Biebl and Anton Bruckner.

The Golden Gate Men's Chorus is a select group of 44 men, representing the
ethnic and social diversity of San Francisco, who share a common love of
choral music. The goals of the chorus are to strive for musical excellence,
to provide a productive social fellowship for our members, and to present the
rich tradition of male choral music to the broad and diverse components of
the San Francisco Bay Area communities.

The GGMC is a member of the Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses (GALA
Choruses), an international organization of gay- and lesbian-identified and
supportive choruses which are as diverse as the communities they represent.
GALA's membership includes over 8,000 lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and their
families and friends from over 150 choruses in North America, Europe, and
Australia. The Golden Gate Men's Chorus presents spring, summer, and winter
concerts each year, in addition to joint appearances with other choruses,
      benefits, and special performances.

Joseph Jennings, Music Director, is considered to be one of America's top
choral directors, clinicians and arrangers. In 1983, Mr. Jennings joined the
renowned a capella group, Chanticleer, as a countertenor and shortly
thereafter became the group's music director; in 2000, he received a Grammy
award for best small ensemble recording. He joined the Golden Gate Men's
Chorus as Music Director in 1996. Originally from Augusta, Georgia, he earned
his M.A. in Conducting from Colorado State University at Ft. Collins, and his
B.A. in Music Education and Piano from Case Western Reserve University in
Cleveland. His versatility has earned him many types of positions: lead
singer/pianist with jazz ensembles; music director and pianist for churches,
      theater, children's theater, and opera productions; guest conductor;
professor; and director of clinic demonstrations and workshops. He has taught
at the College of the Siskiyous in Weed, California as Instructor in Choir,
Musical Theater, Piano, Rhythm and Movement for Children, Vocal Jazz, and
Voice. Mr. Jennings has also served as Adjunct Professor of Music directing
      the University Chorus at UC-Berkeley.

Mr. Jennings has composed for such ensembles as The Palo Alto High School
Chorus, The San Francisco Girls Chorus, Phillipe Brunelle's Plymouth Music
Series, the GALA V Festival Chorus, The New York City Gay Men's Chorus, The
Dale Warland Singers, The Phoenix Bach Choir, Los Angeles Vocal and
Instrumental Ensemble, and Chanticleer. His compositions and arrangements are
published by Hinshaw Music Company of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and Yelton
