[ba-acappella] Baroque Choral Guild concerts - A bouquet of cha nsons
> The Baroque Choral Guild is taking a break from its mostly-sacred
> repertoire to present a pair of all-secular, all-French, almost
> all-a-cappella concerts. Director Mitchell Covington has chosen an
> assortment of 16th and 17th century songs of love and life and
> counterparts from the modern era. The early composers include Janequin,
> Passereau, and our old friend Anon. The modern part of the program
> includes song cycles by Debussy, Ravel and Lauridsen.
> The concerts are on March 11th (8:00 p.m., First United Methodist Church,
> Hamilton & Webster, Palo Alto) and March 12th (7:30 p.m., First
> Congregational Church, Dana & Durant, Berkeley). Tickets are $18 general,
> and $12 for seniors and students. There will be a preview lecture each
> night starting a half hour before the concert. For more information, call
> the Guild at 408-733-8110.
