The Golden Gate Men's Chorus (GGMC) begins its 30th season under the direction of Music Director, Joseph Piazza with the holiday concerts, Repeat the Sounding Joy: a choral music holiday celebration. Ring in the holiday season with the joyful singing and the shimmering sound of the Golden Gate Men's Chorus, under the direction of Music Director, Joseph Piazza, as they raise their voices in festive cheer to the music of Medieval, Renaissance, and modern masters.
We promise to make spirits bright with great choral music spanning five centuries from around the globe: Russian choral masterpieces, gems from the great English Renaissance, Gaelic carols, works by Mendelssohn, Saint-Saëns, and even a Beach Boys arrangement of Auld Lang Syne are just a few of the songs which will fill you with delight. We will even present "live in concert" Eric Whitacre's contemporary Christmas setting Lux Aurumque"Light and Gold," recently featured in a "virtual chorus" performance on a YouTube video.
It is a time for giving, for celebrating, and for bringing joy to family and friends. Be with us in concert this holiday season and join in the music-making with the Golden Gate Men's Chorus as you raise your own voice in our traditional holiday sing-along. You just may find yourself singing songs and carols from years gone by and even singing Jingle Bells to the enchanting melodies of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker!
In the "Classical Voice" Jason Serinus says, "Quality is a given when it comes to the Golden Gate Men's Chorus. (The chorus) ... has such a high degree of musical proficiency among its members that the GGMC frequently tackles challenging repertoire that other community choruses tend to avoid." (5/11/09).
