On December 4 & 6, join PME for the West Coast
      premiere
performances of David Lang’s The Little Match Girl Passion, winner of the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for music. This work is truly unforgettable—written sparingly for 4-part chorus and percussion, it sets the classic Hans Christian Andersen tale in the format of Bach’s Saint
Matthew Passion. This musical allegory of suffering and hopefulness provides the perfect backdrop for PME’s favorite kind of seasonal programming.

The a cappella program also includes Dave Brubeck’s Psalm 121, Benjamin Britten’s Hymn to St. Cecilia, Sanford Dole’s Ave Maria (written specially for PME) and many
      others, including Christmas spirituals.

This is definitely a holiday concert with a twist!
