Music can name the unnameable and communicate the unknowable.
-- Leonard Bernstein
Since rehearsals for the 2009-2010 Season commenced in September, Ryan James Brandau, the new maestro of the Santa Clara Chorale, has initiated his unique molding of the Chorale. At the recent Donor Reception, Mr. Brandau referred to this process as "shaping the marble into David". Mr. Brandau brings a wealth of fresh vocal techniques and performance principles, and is a source of artistic inspiration. Coupled with his heightened energy, enthusiasm and sense of humor, rehearsals are both musically 'athletic' and invigorating.
Choir Invitational will feature Voices of Harmony, an award-winning male a cappella chorus on October 24th. Mastery of technical demanding harmony is the hallmark of this 90-strong chorus. The Santa Clara Chorale complements the evening with folk music, spirituals and show favorites, including Somewhere (Bernstein, Sondheim), At the River (Copland), and Johnny Has Gone for a Soldier (Shaw).
For more information, please visit www.scc.org. Individual and season tickets are currently available online, via the Chorale's hotline at (408) 535-8636, and through Chorale members. Enjoy four performances, for the price of three and reserved seating, for season ticket holders. Discounts are available for seniors, students and groups of ten.
About the Santa Clara Chorale
The Santa Clara Chorale is a non-profit 501(c)(3), arts organization dedicated to enhancing the skills of choral singers and extending the knowledge and appreciation of choral singing and its tradition to new singers and audiences.
The Chorale brings together knowledgeable, amateur singers from a range of ages and backgrounds to study, rehearse and perform major choral works.
We strive for a quality of performance that challenges the chorus, attracts outstanding soloists and develops an appreciative audience.
