Hello you, friend of community music-making,

Would you consider spreading this to your friends and colleagues who
would love this exceptional experience of harmony singing, body
percussion and vocal understanding? VOCO's workshop connects classical
singer and folk singer, improviser and music reader.
VOCO's workshops have been receiving rave reviews from singers of every
stripe - might you tell a few more people?
p.s. flyers attached, if you'd be willing to hand them out to your
      choirs and music events...
p.p.s. I will be in Santa Cruz to teach private lessons on Monday,
Sept. 21 and Tuesday, Sept. 22 - spaces available.

moira smiley and VOCO bring their stompin' gorgeous vocals, lush fierce
vocal harmony and delicious vaudevillian combo of cello, accordion and
banjo to Santa Cruz. Voted #1 a cappella band in the U.S. in 2007, VOCO
is the energy of street singing and the elegance of a string quartet.
Sweet, hard-driving Americana mixed with crooked eastern European dance
and dissonance, with bodystompin' percussive movement. Joyous,
magnificent, hair-raising harmonies - music that mourns and dances at
      the same time.

Moira Smiley's work has been commissioned by choral groups around the
world. Her new spiritual 'Stand in that River' was awarded Song of the
Year by CASA and Harmony Sweepstakes. She has received many prestigious
awards and fellowships (Meet the Composer, Durfee Foundation, American
Composers Foundation, Indiana Arts Council and others). Her vocal work
(including her own compositions) can be heard on feature films 'Queen of
the Damned', 'Clone Wars', 'Affair of the Necklace' and TV movies in the
      U.S, England and Europe.

Moira Smiley has several connections to Santa Cruz. She was Musical
Director for Shakespeare Santa Cruz in 2006 and 2007 and frequently
performs with Santa Cruz based Celtic band Molly's Revenge whose members
David Brewer and Pete Haworth will guest at the concert.
