Sonos is a new LA-based alternative vocal group – producing a unique
sound that blurs the genre line, garnering them fans from alternative,
mainstream and vocal music worlds alike. Their first release was a
song on the prestigious Barnes & Noble compilation series
"SundayMusic" – and featured rising superstar Sara Bareilles
performing her classic "Gravity" in an unaccompanied vocal arrangement
with the band. And March 8 sees Sonos's live debut -- in Santa Rosa,
from whence three of the six members hail.

College a cappella it is not. But that's where it started. Members of
UCLA's premiere a cappella group, Awaken, decided they wanted
something more from their musical experience. More professional, more
challenging music, more interesting sound: Sonos. Each of the members
resonates with their own unique vocal style, evidenced on stunning
reinterpretations of less than obvious material: Radiohead, Gnarls
Barkley, Bjork… the goal of the 19-24 year-old UCLA students and
graduates who comprise Sonos is to raise the bar, push the envelope
and help to redefine a genre.

The group consists of Christopher Harrison, Cynthia Wennstrom, Kathy
Hoye, Ben McLain, Paul Peglar and Jessica Freedman. They will release
their first album later in '08 through bigHelium records in a joint
venture (currently in negotiation) with a major label.

All proceeds of the performance directly benefit the Maria Carrillo
High School Arts Department – a department that sits comfortably at
the forefront of the arts community of Sonoma County.
