      Artistic Director Position Announcement for 2006-2007 Season


      The California Bach Society (CBS) is currently seeking an
      exceptional choral conductor for its Artistic Director position
      for the 2006-2007 season.

      CBS is a chorus of 20-24 experienced amateur singers, which has
      as its mission to be Northern California's finest chamber chorus
      performing significant works from the European tradition, with
      special emphasis on music from the sixteenth through the eighteenth

      The Artistic Director leads the chorus to musical excellence and
      community recognition in accordance with its mission, the directives
      of the Board of Directors, and the by-laws of the organization.
      Primary duties include planning, preparing the chorus for, and
      performing a season of four concert sets. A complete listing of

      Required job qualifications include education and experience in
      performing and conducting European choral music of the sixteenth
      through the eighteenth centuries, the ability to select and guide
      experienced amateur singers to performance excellence, experience
      in successful concert season planning, willingness to assist in
      achieving community recognition and broad-based funding for CBS,
      and experience in working with a Board of Directors and within
      budget constraints.

      The Artistic Director's position is part-time contract employment
      for which compensation is $12,000. An additional amount of up to
      $2,500 per concert set is available for allocation to additional
      contract music personnel, such as soloists, instrumentalists,
      etc., and score purchase or rental for each concert set.

      Applications by email are encouraged. A moderate amount of
      additional supporting material, such as representative concert
      programs, will be accepted with the primary application.

      be requested of successful candidates at a later date.
