      For Immediate Release – February 8, 2006

Cantabile Chorale Announces "Mass Transit" Concert
      March 17, 18 and 19,2006

What: CANTABILE CHORALE will present "Mass Transit" March 17, 18,
and 19th. The first half will be the beautiful Mass for Four Voices,
an acappella delight of English Renaissance polyphony, by
      Elizabethan composer William Byrd.

In the second half of the concert, artistic director Sanford Dole
has assembled an collection of modern works entitled Missa Eclectica
consisting of the movements of the mass written by a different 20th
or 21st century composer, offering a diverse modern prospective on
traditional texts. Composers featured are Vasiliauskaite,Rautavaara,
      Sisask, Mechem,

Frank Martin, and a premiere by Sanford Dole himself.

"Mr. Dole has an adventurous sense of repertory meaning that he is
curious, exploratory, interested in discovering works that have been
undeservedly neglected or simply overlooked, which would enrich the
experience of his singers and audiences and possibly be taken into
the mainstream of works performed...With a very few other select
groups, it [Cantabile Chorale] stands secure in the forefront of the
choral scene here and highly merits support for the significant
contribution it makes to the community and the musical experience of
all whom it touches." -Robert Commanday

Under the artistic direction of Sanford Dole, the Cantabile Chorale
is a 70-member auditioned chorus comprised of singers from the South
Bay, Peninsula, East Bay and San Francisco and has built a
reputation over the years for high-quality performances and
innovative programming with demanding repertoire from all periods.
Chorale produces a formal concert season of three program sets
performed in Palo Alto and Berkeley and San Francisco as well as
guest appearances and collaborative ventures with other noteworthy
Bay Area performance organizations and tours abroad.
