BlankSoli Deo Gloria with Orchestra Gloria performs Annunciation and Expectation, music by celebrated German Baroque composers Samuel Scheidt, Michael Praetorius, and Johann Sebastian Bach. Bach's cantata "Wie sch´┐Żn leuchtet der Morgenstern" celebrates the Annunciation while his "Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland" was written for the season of Advent. Each is based on a well-known hymn from the Lutheran tradition. The choir will also perform motets by Scheidt and Praetorius based on the same hymns.

The concerts will be conducted by Dr. Paul Flight, the principal conductor of the Madison Early Music Festival and a former interim director of the UC Berkeley University and Chamber Chorus.

Friday, Nov. 18, 7:30 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal, Palo Alto (600 Colorado)
Saturday, Nov. 19, 5:00 p.m.: St. Gregory of Nyssa, San Francisco (500 De Haro)
Sunday, Nov. 20, 3:30 p.m.: St. Philip Neri, Alameda (3108 Van Buren St.)

Tickets are $25/$20. Discount for advance purchase online at www.sdgloria.org or call 888/SDG-SONG.

Soli Deo Gloria' Artistic Director Allen H Simon (since 1991) takes a well-deserved sabbatical this season. As the choir begins its 30th season, three Bay Area guest conductors known for their diverse perspectives and styles will step in and cover the podium: Paul Flight in November, Chad Runyon in March 2006, and Alexander Vereshagin and the Russian Chamber Orchestra in May 2006.
