YOUNG WOMEN ARE INVITED TO ATTEND AN A CAPPELLA WORKSHOP & CONTEST
Bay Area Showcase Chorus is offering young women singers of junior
high and high school age an opportunity to learn, practice, and
perform a cappella music at a "let's Sing A Cappella Workshop" on
Saturday February 1 at the Milpitas Community Center. Following the
workshop, there will be a free concert open to the public.
If you know young women who like to sing or know a music teacher in a
local school, please forward this information to them. We'd like to
share the experience of how exciting it is to hear voices making
wonderful music without a musical instrument.
THERE WILL ALSO BE A FESTIVAL CONTEST - If members of a music group,
quartet, or chorus plan to attend the workshop together, they're
invited to prepare one or two other songs and compete in the Festival
Contest during the afternoon. Groups will be judged on vocal skills,
group unity, and stage presence. Contest songs do not have to be in
the barbershop harmony style, but must be sung unaccompanied. Contest
winners will be features on the 4PM concert that is free and is open
to the public.
Reserve Your Workshop Spot - The workshop registration fee is 5.00
per person. To reserve your spot, send your name, address, phone
number, email address, and a $5.00 check payable to Bay Area Showcase
Chorus. Mail your reservation to Bay Area Showcase Chorus 6479
Randall Court, Pleasanton, CA 94566-7725. Lunch and snacks will be
provided. If you want to enter the Festival Contest, be sure to
include the name of your music group, quartet, or chorus.
