Group Description

We are non-profit and politically neutral. We just want to cook with the sun and help others learn.

Based in Glendale, Arizona, the ASCA (Arizona Solar-Cookers Association) is dedicated to helping others learn about solar cooking. It really is easy. Ever grab your steering wheel in July? That is solar cooking. The glass in your windshield lets the sunlight in, but prevents it from getting out. This light converts to heat and warms up the inside of your car. What we need to do is make an oven that will help retain this converted light energy. This requires good insulation. For every dollar you spend cooking food with your kitchen oven, it takes two dollars to cool your house back down. This not only saves energy, but your house is more comfortable. Many places on earth are running out of trees, therefore, no fire wood. People have to walk for miles just to gather enough wood to cook a meal or pasteurize water. The World Health Org. gives out solar cookers to third world countries. Solar cooking has been around for as long as there has been glass. If you would like to join this group, send an email to azlogging@cox.net and I will send you an invitation to join. Please, no spammers or anyone trying to sell anything. This site is only about solar cooking. No jokes, no sales pitches, nothing but info on solar cooking.
