Eric Mueller has translated the following war news from al-Jazeera:

      ================= Begin forwarded message =================

      Dear Kevin,

I just read and watched over the internet a report on
al-Jazeera about the attempted assassination of Aqilah
al-Hashimi, one of the members of Bremer's council.

SHe left home the other morning together with her
guards and a relative in two cars. When they got to
an intersection two assassin cars intercepted them and
from one of them a grenade was lobbed at her car, and
then gunfire erupted. One car crashed into a
building. Aqilah al-Hashimi's car pulled away to the
right but the two assassin cars pursued firing until
her car crashed into another building.

She's in hospital with bullet wounds to the thigh,
      stomach, and shoulder.

Meanwhile, today three American soldiers were wounded
in al-Mosul when an RPG slammed into their transport.

Meanwhile in the Khalis district Northeast of Baghdad,
an American convoy also received RPG fire but
      eyewitnesses say no casualties resulted.

An explosion ocurred in al-Fallujah followed by small
arms fire. This happened, witnesses said after the
      al-Fallujah-Baghdad expressway was reopened. Two
Americans were wounded there when their jeep was hit.

In the village of al-Bu 'Ujayl, east of Tikrit, the US
army has arrested 60 people in connection with an
attack on an American patrol. Villagers said that the
US troops had sealed off the village for nearly 20
hours and accused the US troops of stealing their
small arms and what money they had. Al-Jazeera said
the US forces had not responded to the accusations.
