19556Re: [AZ] First azalea flowers and first leaf emergence
- Mar 19, 2014Thanks, Bill. I had forgotten who developed 'Rivermist'. I know about 'Mike Bullard'. Of course, I only bought the variegated 'Festive' and the solid red sport occurs naturally. That's sort of puzzling.Bob KellyAberdeen, MS----- Original Message -----From: William C. 'Mike Bullard' is a sport of the Glenn Dale 'Festive', and it was introduced by Ralph Pennington.
'Rivermist' is a James Harris hybrid.
I've still got the residue of nine inches of snow that fell on Sunday-Monday. No azaleas or early rhodys are blooming for me yet --- and Spring starts tomorrow. It's raining now and temps are in the 40s.
www.theazaleaworks.comMy earliest evergreen azaleas are Glen Dale 'Festive' and 'Mike Bullard'. Several other GD's 'River Mist' and 'Trouper' are also early.Bob KellyAberdeen, MS----- Original Message -----From: Mike CreelTo: ASA AzaleaphilesSent: Wednesday, March 19, 2014 10:33 AMSubject: [AZ] First azalea flowers and first leaf emergenceI have all 17 native azalea species in the ground growing
