[DANCE] Johnny Tu - Prominent APA Dancer
He was born in Taipei Taiwan and came to the U.S. at the age of 7.
He was first introduced to dance while a business student at Cal
Poly Pomona University.
He began his dancing career with the Los Angeles Mexican Dance
Theater, directed by Carola De La Rocha.
Presently, Johnny Tu (Guest Dancer/Choreographer) has danced for The
Los Angeles, Mexican Dance Theatre, The Bridge Dance Theatre, Trip
Dance Theatre, Tongue/ The Stephanie Gilliland Dance Company, Keith
Johnson/ Dancers, Winifred R. Harris' Between Lines and has appeared
in works by Stella Gardiner (Aida) and Dulce Capedocia (Ma'I Lost).
He is currently dancing with continued collaborations with Rosanna
Gamson, Wendy Rogers, and Loretta Livingston (since 1999).
He has been working for Grand Performances as OfficeAdministrator
since June of 2000. Johnny finds, "the fleeting moments dancing to
be poignant metaphors" for his contemporary culture.
