The Answer should be 1038 , because there are 30 squares ( from 2 to 31) and 9 cubes(from 2 to 10 ) and two are eliminated( 64 and 729) .So in total there are 37( 30+9 -2) nos including cubes and squares .
      And the series is starting from 2 , therefore 1000th term is 1000 + 37 + 1 = 1038

      Hi, The answer is D, Because there are 31 square numbers(1 4 9 16 25 36 49 64 81 100 121 144 169 196 225 256 289 324 361 400 441 484 529 576 625 676 729 784 841 900 961) &  9 Cube numbers(8 27 64 125 216 343 512 729 1000). So total 40 number will be eliminated from sequence and 1041 is the 1000th term.

among number 1 to 1000 there are 38 numbers (=40-2) which are either square or cube or both.

        So the sequence below
        2, 3 , 5, ..... , 1001 will have  (1000 - 38) terms.
We need 1000th term, so add 38 more numbers into the sequence.

so the new sequence will be,

        2,3,5, ....., 1001, 1002, .., 1024, ..., 1039 (=1001 + 38) This will have 1000 terms.

But this contains 1024 which is a square (= 32x32). So removing 1024 will reduce number of the number of terms in the above sequence to 999. So to make it 1000 term sequence we need to add one more number to it i.e. 1040, which eventually would be the 1000th term.

But this is not there in the option. So, either options are wrong or my explanation is wrong!

          There are 32 squares between the closest answer (1, , 9 ,...... 1024) { 1024 is the square of 32.}

There are 10 cubes between the closest answer (1, 8, .....1000).

          So in total 42 terms.
But 64 and 729 are both squares and cubes.
And 1 is not a part of the sequence as the sequence starts from 2,3....

          so 42-4 = 38 terms.
Hence the 1000th term moves 38 terms ahead. So the answer is 1038.
